A robot shaped like Peppa Pig has achieved millimeter precision!

Recently, an intelligent underwater robot, developed by China Yangtze Power Co., Ltd. (CYPC), successfully dove at the Three Gorges Hydropower Station Spillway Dam Section, achieving millimeter-level detection of surface defects. This was the robot's third test in real-world operational conditions.

Engineers reported that it not only located concrete test blocks but also conducted a full inspection of the dam section. The successful trial adds a powerful new tool to the world's largest clean energy corridor. Several divers at the maintenance division are gradually transitioning from traditional diving roles to robot operators, highlighting a shift toward intelligent, technology-driven hydropower maintenance. On Oct 24, the robot passed all expert evaluations, laying a solid foundation for the successful completion of this national key R&D project under the 14th Five-Year Plan.
