A major breakthrough in hydropower maintenance

Major breakthrough! China has tested its first self-developed intelligent lifting system for a turbine generator top cover at the Three Gorges Hydropower Station. The system lifts loads up to 750 tonnes with an operation that is single-click, synchronized and precise, boosting maintenance efficiency and safety.

Traditionally, accessing the turbine top cover required removing large components. During testing, this new system lifted a 380-tonne, 14-meter top cover without removing any components, saving time and creating more maintenance space. With this breakthrough, a common challenge in hydropower station maintenance across the industry has been solved.
