Three Gorges ship lock cargo throughput tops 2.37 billion tonnes

By the end of March, the Three Gorges ship lock had handled 223,000 lockage operations, 1.104 million vessel passages and 2.37 billion tonnes of cargo.

Since opening to public vessels in 2003, the cargo volume through the Three Gorges Ship Lock has risen steadily. To meet strong shipping demand, intelligent dispatching systems and precise maintenance measures have been adopted, facilitating material circulation along the Yangtze River.
