Key progress achieved in cooling tower construction at CTG's Ruoqiang New Energy Base
Date: 2026-05-15
Along the edge of the Taklimakan Desert in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, one of China's largest indirect cooling towers is taking shape at CTG's Ruoqiang New Energy Base.
Recently, engineers completed the closure for the giant X-shaped support columns of Unit 1. Standing 225 meters tall, the tower is supported by 56 X-shaped steel columns, each weighing 63 tonnes. The cooling tower plays a key role in the unit's cooling system. It is one of the largest of its kind currently under construction in China, and forms an important part of a large-scale energy base.
