Green practices at Tiantai Pumped-storage Power Station
Date: 2026-07-10
What happens to more than seven million cubic meters of rock and soil excavated from a major clean energy project? At Tiantai Pumped-storage Power Station in Zhejiang province, the excavated materials were not simply treated as waste, but repurposed into valuable resources for various uses: hard rock was processed into concrete aggregate or used for dam filling, some of the material supported local infrastructure construction, and weathered soil was stockpiled for subsequent ecological restoration.
This commitment to both resource use and environmental protection is also reflected in the team's efforts to protect surrounding natural heritage. When crews uncovered a valuable glacial boulder field in the planned project area, the team paused operations, revised the project blueprint and relocated the spoil disposal site, reducing spoil storage volume by over 1 million cubic meters.
