Ecological and environmental protection at the Chaglla Hydropower Station in Peru
CTG's Chaglla Hydropower Station has intensified its efforts in ecological and environmental protection. The increased use of mechanical operations for reservoir cleaning has led to a significant enhancement of downstream water quality. The organic waste collected from the reservoir is sorted and transported to the station’s nursery to be used as fertilizer. Environmental personnel at the station are also responsible for collecting, nurturing, and maintaining the seedlings in the nursery. Once these seedlings grow, they will increase the local vegetation coverage. So far, 26 native tree species, as well as several fruit and decorative trees, have been cultivated. The earnings from these efforts are used to support nearby communities.
